Subject:Ryan and David Jacques sound clips

It has been very interesting to hear the sound clips offered by David
Jacques and Ryan Stroup of their set ups recently.

In both cases the clips are so convincing that it would take an absolute
expert to know that they are not playing a tonewheel Hammond.

Ryan's clip is interesting in that it was done solo....there is nothing for
the tone to hide behind. The "crunchiness" of the organ is impressive . I
would have to check the posts but I would guess that some of the VK8 amp modeling
was used to get some of the overdrive.

The VK8 and V 8m are to me very "neutral " sounding clones without the
overdrive effect. As I have said, I have demoed the VK8m through an A 100 and 122
leslie and found it to be remarkably close - including the "leakage" you can
add, which adds uncannily accurate overtones to the pitch.

David's XK3 and Speakeasy amp modeling device etc. etc. are also quite
convincing sounding. People Get Ready has always been a great vehicle for
organ.... and in this case , the tone is lacking nothing. These clips are proof of
the flexibility of the newest clones. Good work guys.

In both cases the players ( as I recall, it has been about a week since I
heard David's) the players used a combination of chorale and fast leslie speeds.
They both also used overdrive effect. Neither used any leslie sim. I think
David was using percussion and Ryan was not, but I am not currently listening
to the clips.

The clips are proof that in the hands of a real player, there is more than
one choice regarding which clone might meet your needs.

By the way I would LOVE to hear a clip of the Voce V5 plus with chorus
vibrato....888000000 with third percussion, no leslie spin please.

One of my acid tests for any clone is the accuracy of the chorus vibrato
with percussion - the classic jazz sound. I am hopefully going into the studio
very soon and will try to send you guys some examples of the VK8m chorus
vibrato ( without leslie chorale) I have been raving about.
