Subject:Re: rotor syncing
Hi All,
The upper and lower pulleys on a Leslie are slightly different sizes. Thus, even if they start out aligned, they won't stay "in sync" over time. Add in the fact that the two rotors have different inertia, and it's near impossible to sync the two electronically. Such a system would require some kind of sensor to tell where in the circle each rotor was at any given time.
The only "rotor sync" systems that I've ever seen are 100% mechanical -- they have some kind of bar that links the two rotors together. And, at risk of beating the topic to death: why would anyone want to sync the two rotors, even at Chorale speed? The Leslie audio effect depends on the random nature of the rotor system.
Regards,
-BW
