Subject:Warning OT- Soundforge? OT-OT Warning!

Nothing to do with clones but such a large group we always get answers!!
I want to take old cassette band recordings and convert them to digital and do some manipulation with EQ, etc. We use to record left side live with a mic and the other side out of the board and there was always that delay. Would be great to sync those up. What is the best software program to use tidy these old recordings up and preserve them digitally. SoundForge comes to mind... Would that work? Thanks.
