Subject:Re: XK2 vs XB2
Having owned the Hammond Suzuki XB-2 ROM Version 2 at one point I
would go for the XK-2. I didn't own the XK-2 but I had played it a
few times and in my opinion is the better upgrade option you have
immediately available.
The XB-2 will have beating frequencies when used with a real leslie.
I believe the XK-2 improves upon this early digital clone problem by
synching oscillators. I didn't really care for the key bed on the
XK-2 as I thought it was too spongy but you may like it otherwise. I
don't know how much more it will cost you but you might also want to
consider the XK-1 which is the lower end XK-3 model but includes the
new VASE III tone generator technology. The XB and XK models use VASE
and VASE II which is a sample based system.
Also consider that part of the experience will be with the expression
pedal, when I bought my XB it came with the optional (expensive)
expression pedal and a road case. I believe the XK also uses this
same pedal. I didn't think the Hammond Suzuki expression pedal was
very good.
