Subject:HALF-MOON SWITCH FOR CLONES
I'm thinking of one from the Ashby Solutions website, for my V.2 CX-3. Any
comments/advice from anybody? From non-Korg clone owners as well? Roland?
Hammond? Anyone???
I saw these at the Ashby Solutions 'site and was instantly smitten. To those
who know: which do you have, the kind that stops in the center as on a
pitch-bend wheel (per Ashby), or the "older", more authentically CHORALE/TREMOLO,
2-position job? Why?? I think I'd enjoy either, though of course the former
is less like the original (but I don't think I'd care too much).
I've got a Leslie 760 connected to a Hammond M-102; with a "Leslie Control
Center" thing on there... ("FAST/OFF/SLOW - ORGAN/MIX/LESLIE"). This I've
played since '86; I also played a HammSuz XB-2 (V.1) 'til 1999 when I moved up to
an XK-2... and since November 2002, a month after the 2nd version came out,
by way of a massive loan from my 401K account, it's been the above CX-3... my
main instrument since I got it...far and away the best clone for my tastes
that I've come across, most authentic (feels like a GENNIE-uine [heh, etc.]
Hammond console, placement of tabs/V/C dial etc. and ALL), and always a TRUE
joy to play, even when heard through headphones (Grado SR[?]-80s) ! But I
digress... I always wisht I had a half-moon switch; it feels better to smear
CHORALE to TREMOLO in a horizontal rather than vertical move, as I have on the
M-102 with the Leslie "Control Center".
Any feedback MUCH appreciated, and thanks in advance.
Best - Adam
