Subject:My XK-B3 Project

Those of you who are interested in the XK System, and a B3 Styled stand for it -- I have created a new Album on the Clonewheel Site in the Photos Folder.

It is called "XKB3 Project." I have uploaded three photos showing the current stage of my XKB3 project. It is an XK System with a custom stand that I have finished as a do it yourself project.

This stand is ROCK STEADY. The sides fold flat against the back for transport. It doesn't weigh much, but is obviously a little bulkier than a collapsible metal stand. It is available from ToneWheel General Hospital in Kansas City.

I have had great dealings with all of the CloneWheel People that I've discovered on the internet. Ashby Solutions, BB Organ, BT Productions, Speakeasy Vintage Music and Tonewheel General to name a few (in Alphabetical order.)

I have done the finishing myself. I pretty much nailed the color but still wasn't quite happy..... Then I realized that the overall piece just didn't look "vintage" enough for me. So, I used a process that you would call "aging" in the antique reproduction world. I have one more pass with a dry-brush and some dark stain and it will be close enough.

I was doing fine with a P80 or the Nord Electro midi into the XK3 as a lower manual, but this is really much more fun..... it's a much better playing experience having matching manuals and two separate sets of real time "grab a handful and go" drawbars.
