Subject:RE: Mother of all Leslies- 30A "Vibratone" found
Mark;
I'm not sure if you also go by the name Cort, but if your not, here are
three ideas posted to the Hammond zone which bounced to the Hammond
forum.
The basics will go something like this for an interface box:
In the box, isolate the audio signal to the 31H with capacitors. Connect
the SS relay sensing lines (before the isolation capacitors) and 6.3VAC
or VDC power source (a small filament transformer will do the trick).
Use the output of the SS relay to energize a mechanical relay that takes
the place of the original tremolo switch. You may have to add some arc
suppression to the relay contacts. You may want to incorporate a power
relay into this box if you are going to use two or more Leslies. As far
as a SS relay for this project, all of them will need 6.3VAC to run the
logic in there circuits. Pretty simple if you are building an external
box to interface to 122 motor switching signals. Most are voltage based
sensing circuits except for the Speakeasy which is current based
therefore it should be easier to incorporate into your project box.
Another way would be to rebuild the 31H amp to 122 specifications in the
front end by rewiring, adding isolation capacitors, replacing the relay,
(mechanical or SS relay) and adding a switching tube depending on which
type (mechanical relay or SS relay) you choose. A power relay would also
be a good idea if you are going to use two or more Leslies.
If you are using another Leslie such as a 122, use the 122 as the
switching for the motors in the 31H amp. In this case, you would run an
AC cord from the 122 fast motor over to the 31H fast motors. Cheep but
effective! Also another wire to connect! In this case, The Carribbean
and the isolation capacitors would be the only link needed. Again, you
may want to incorporate a power relay into this project also.
In all of the above, pin 5 of the 31H is not to connect to pin 5 of the
122 if you are using one. Not everyone will agree but that is my
preferential warning.
Well there are at least three ideas to conceder!
It all depends on how you want it and who you buy from!
PS. I did not get the Hamtech posts for some reason.

Once again I am seeking information from anyone who knows about these or
may
even have one. Harvey Olsen already gave me some good information, and I
got
quite a few private e mails asking to send photos etc.
