Subject:RE: Question about XK1 v XK3

I went and tried the XK1 tonite, and actually liked it. The keyboard is more akin to the XK2 keyboard, which I prefer to the XK3 keyboard; it doesn't trigger as fast/as easily, and has the shorter height (at least it feels that way). The drawbars are definitely stiffer than the XK3s, but the XK3 sound is still there. Twenty pounds lighter....a real possibility.

Yeah, I tried them both at NAMM.. I was unimpressed with the XK1. The
keyboard is definitely inferior. Plus, for me, the lack of the second set of
drawbars is a negative. But if you do not need the Leslie output, then it
may be worth the reduced cost.

As a user of the XK3, I love the thing. Now here's the question:if I had no
intention of buying the second manual, and didn't care that I was losing the
extra drawbars and black preset keys, or the extra tonewheel sets, and
didn't need the leslie connetor, would I find myself dissatisfied with the
XK1? I'm guessing from reviews, the soundset is the same (same raw
materials), improved C/V, improved leslie sim. Anyone have hands-on
experience with both?

the 2121 has a mic/line input complete with phantom power
(if needed) in addition to two 1/4" jacks for the low rotor and
stationary/bass from the 2101. When you connect a 2101 to a lower
unit/amp, you need to connect both the rotary and stationary/bass
outputs.
