It definitely is for guitarists, as evidenced by its Univibe settings, and its easily overloadable input stage.
Our own Eric Lawson did the review for Keyboard this month if you haven't checked it out already.

I don't think they're the same, some basic newer Roland COSM rotary
concepts in the RT-20, but the VK-8M's simulation is more realistic,
plus the organ is great and the effects and amp types etc are very
useable. The RT-20 effect is hard to describe in words, something
like "too clean" with a hint of theremin sound, IMO close but just a
bit artificial. And the overdrive is too much, one touch and you're
into full buzz.
With the factory default settings I wouldn't be embarrassed to get
through a night's play with it but not as first choice. I'd go for
the VK-8M, organ with drawbars and sim plus fx in one module.
