I agree with Walter, although I think they are both the same engine. My
guess is that the RT-20 allows you to tweak the parameters beyond the
usual/normal limit, hence obtaining easily an overexaggerated rotary
sound. The overdrive was way too much. With just a little turn (5%) of
the knob you had more than needed. This makes me think that the RT20 is
for guitarrists.
I went to the store with the money to buy the RT20 for a V5 but after
playing the VK8m I got the Hammond clone because in general it sounded
better and was an all in one module...

I don't think they're the same, some basic newer Roland COSM rotary
concepts in the RT-20, but the VK-8M's simulation is more realistic,
plus the organ is great and the effects and amp types etc are very
useable. The RT-20 effect is hard to describe in words, something
like "too clean" with a hint of theremin sound, IMO close but just a
bit artificial. And the overdrive is too much, one touch and you're
into full buzz.

With the factory default settings I wouldn't be embarrassed to get
through a night's play with it but not as first choice. I'd go for
the VK-8M, organ with drawbars and sim plus fx in one module.
