Subject:Re: Simple keydip modification for FATAR waterfall organ keybeds

I suspect that OEMs use felt under the keys to limit key travel vs.
the raw keybeds I used.

My numbers were "maximum possible travel" just like when using
aftertouch.

I think it would be possible to get even closer to 8mm then I did but
I don't want to push to far w/o gigging this arrangement to make sure
a few trips in the car, banging the controller during setup, and
hours of playing don't introduce problems. I would probably use some
thin felt on top of the "belt" or several layers of tape (sort of
like added punchings to a piano to level the keys).

It would also be interesting to get keydip measurements from a
recently re-felted hammond.

Finally, in my experiments, getting plastic to rub against some felt
really comes close to the tactile sensation of keycontacts on a
hammond-- there is a mechanical ppppffft noise as you play. I didn't
see an easy and reliable way to add that felt (that was before I got
the keydip fixed) but I might revist at some point.
