Subject:Need help finding a good preamp
I just purchased a Leslie 2101 unit to go with my CX-3. At first I
was trilled with the sound since this is my first real rotating
speaker cabinet, but it seems the honeymoon is over. The 2101 is too
shrill and bright for my tastes. Of course it does sound much better
than running the CX-3 through my Peavey KB-4 with Leslie effect. I'm
considering adding a tube preamp to the signal to hopefully warm
things up. I've emailed the guys at Speakeasy a couple times. First
email was a couple months ago about the price on an organ chop and
yesterday on the price of a Road box with possible partial trade on
the 2101. They wanted me to call about the price on the chop and gave
no reply at all to my email on the Road box. What's the deal? Do
they want me to call and haggle with them on the price? Not trying to
be negative since it seems that most on this board idolize these guys
and I certainly don't want to run the risk of being ostracized or
setting myself up for personal attacks for questioning their
omnipotence. I would just like some straight answers and straight
prices without calling and possibly dealing with some salesman's pitch
on his product. Anyone have suggestions for a quality alternative.
Just looking for some straight answers and customer service without
being brushed aside.
