Subject:VK-8M/Leslie 44W Questions (Was: Motion Sound PRO-145 and VK8M)
Hi Ryan (and group)...Couple of questions.
The 44W you picked up on EBay: What shipping service
did you use that "...wasn't too bad" ? I've been
trying to sell my 44W for about a month now, but have
been using Craig's list, local contacts, etc...(Almost
had it sold to a small church, but they had to back
out the deal - due to $$ constraints; same deal with
a friend who owns a studio...). I've resisted, so far,
putting it on EBay - due to shipping concerns (freight
company logistics, cost to potential buyers, etc.).
But if you've found a relatively easy way for a 44W to
be transported, I'm all ears - as I know I could move
it more quickly on EBay.
How much tweaking have you done with your VK-8M ?
Just basic front panel/sub menu stuff, or have you
moved into some of the updates, software mods, etc.
discussed on the Clonewheel/VK Corral sites ? I've
done a little sub menu tweaking; but, the depth of
rotary sim. programmability, while appealing, seems to
be quite tedious-considering the interface. Any
tricks, settings, thoughts you'd want to share are
more than welcome. (BTW: regarding any possible
programming software: my computer is a Mac Powerbook
G4...) Because I work some smaller gigs (where my Road
Box is not logistically practical), I'd like to get my
VK-8M to sound a bit earthier/greasier on its'
own...It'd be great if I could get some of the "wheezy
old beast" 'personality' on the VK-8M - as found in
the V5/V5+. The Voce gear has been a bit tempting,
lately - as I have an RT-20 for rotary sim.; plus,
I've been hearing that the V5/V5+ sound 'killer'
through the Road Box.
Thanks for any thoughts, insights you might have to
offer...
Allan
