Subject:Re: Voce Spin II - What does it "really" sound like?
I should have finished my post: Yes, I sold the Voce Spin II; I also sold the RT20, and the G4. When you get down to it, nothing sounds like a leslie. The best non-physically rotating alternative I found is B4.

that was used in those recordings.
Replying to MikeW specifically, you mentioned that you actually own the Spin II. Does it
sound like the demos on Voce Inc.'s website or like the Purgatory Creek MP3? If the unit
indeed sounds 'exactly' like the 2 demo files posted on www.voceinc.com then I'm sold
and I will never bother about this subject again.
The problem with the Voce units is that they are pretty rare, especially in Vancouver British
Columbia which is where I'm located. The only chance I have to hear these things is
through the internet, and with the large discrepancy between what Voce says the Spin II
sounds like and what Purgatory Creek says the Spin II sounds I have no bearing to come to
a conclusion either way.
As mentioned in a previous post, if anyone can make a recording using the Spin II I would
very much appreciate it. Also, the RT20 wouldn't be bad to hear in a 'proper' context
either. I watched the promo NAMM video from Roland's site with the strung out rocker and
his MIDI Guitar organ patch, but this tells me nothing about how it sounds when played by
an organist. Listening to the demos of the VK 8M gives a bit more insight though they
delve too much into the heavy overdriven tones which isn't to my taste.
