Subject:Re: U.S. V-stand

I have one on these stands and asked Ultimate Supports the same
question because the Roland version has 2 wing screws that lock the
legs in place. I was told that using the screws would make the stand
more likely to turn over if bumped or hit inadvertently. FWIW, I want
to love the stand. I even have the 2nd tier and mike boom, which
works great. The problem is, I play standing and the 2nd tier doesn't
really help the stability issue. And I have a Yamaha S-90 on the
bottom and an Electro on the top. I don't think it is going to turn
over or fall, it's just wobbly as hell. Very annoying. I find the
stand much more stable when playing seated, however. Also FWIW,
opening the "V" to the wider position makes things worse and Ultimate
told me they do not recommend the "wide" position at all. It sure
does look cool and sets up fast, though. BTW, Quik-Lok Z-72 is the
best one of them all. Sets up quickly, but heavy to carry and awkward
to pack. There's always a trade-off. The search continues. Have you
tried an Apex? I haven't, and that's about the only one I don't
currently own. I am thinking of giving it a try...
