Pie and I had the good fortune to attend the private party for the Walk Of
Fame Ceremony Friday night at The Mod Club. Talk about old-school...open bar
and food all night, and some of the best performances I've seen in a long
time. Among others, Tom Wilson, Donny Walsh and Chuck Jackson, an astounding
performance by Divine Brown, Haiden from Jacksoul, and a walloping mini-set
by Paul Schaffer that blew the doors off the place. They were all backed by
an all girl band called The Queen Beez, led by an old friend of Drew and
mine, Lily Sazz. A great night of entertainment and a lot of laughs upstairs
in the Artists lounge. We met actor Brendan Fraser, (The Mummy movies,
George of The Jungle, Crash, Blast From The Past, Gods And Monsters, etc),
who turned out to be the nicest guy you could imagine.
Yesterday we spoke with them all again at the pre-show and Walk of Fame
ceremony itself, and got great quotes from some of the afore mentioned, plus
Dan Aykroyd and Eugene Levy, (who remembered the old days including Danny's
great booze can, the 505...Danny was walking arounf with a bottle of coffee
based Patrone Tequila, one of his new projects, and Brendan told us about
his next film...a remake of 'Journey To The Center Of The Earth' in 3-D),
Others we were fortunate to speak with were Alex Trebek, a very cool Robert
Goulet, Gabrielle Miller from "Corner Gas", Jann Arden, Dave Foley, and
yes...Pamela Anderson is a knockout...she gives Trish Stratus a pretty hot
kiss on the show tonight.
As far as the performances go, it's a great awards show. Paul does indeed do
a number with all the other B3 players mentioned below, and it kicked ass. 4
B3's on one stage all at once...Brock, you would have had tears in your
eyes. He also does a duet with Danny on The Buckingham's 'Kind Of A Drag'.
The bar was free, the food was amazing, (bar-b-qued steaks and a sweet table
the size of Montana. It was a great time.
The show itself broadcasts tonight on CTV...
