Subject:Re: Soft Synths and Samplers

I do. With Pink Freud, I use a Receptor with B4 (works friggin GREAT! my favorite non-leslie clone EVER!), M(ello)Tron, CS80v, Mini(moog)Monstah, Oddity, Pro-53, Atmosphere, and it works fantastically.

B4 is running all the time (obviously in a Pink Floyd tribute), with my Electro as the controller, and various permutations of the other soft synths are running simultaneously in every set-up. I also use some of the freeware that came with the Receptor for FX (chorus, delay, reverb).

But I still wouldn't use a laptop/pc-based system.

I saw The Fixx a few months ago; I had met their synthesist, Rupert Greenhall, a few years ago, and we got to hang for a while after their show back in April or May. And he was using a laptop running Logic and some of the Logic-synth programs. I saw (and heard) the system hang on him a couple times. Been there, won't do that.

I am curious. How many list members actually gig with software synths and
samplers? That would scare the Hell out of me.
