Subject:Re: Las Vegas
When I was out in 'Vegas, on vacation back in '99, I
was quite impressed with the band on the 2nd floor
lounge at New York, New York. I forget the name of the
band, but they had two keyboard players: one on a
Roland A-90EX (piano/female lead vocals, mostly), and
one with a two board stack (Korg O1/W and ?). The guy
on the 01/W was kicking some of the most wicked left
hand bass I've ever seen/heard; all the while comping
and doing intricate leads - as if his left hand didn't
even exist. I consider myself rather competent on left
hand bass, but this fellow was from another planet,
altogether. Tight, pocket drummer and smooth
guitarist, too. Nothing was sequenced. I was told by
the 'locals' that this was typical of the talent at
that lounge...Wish I could remember the band's name,
though...they were a pop/jazz/funk kind of act...
