Subject:RE: NAMM coverage?
Here's what I've seen (and heard) so far. Hammond
Suzuki has a booth on the main floor. They didn't go
for the second booth upstairs this year where they
showed their church and home organs. In the booth,
they have the items ("new products") from their
website. They have two of the XK-1 units. They are not
showing any of their other products like the
institutional (church) organs or home organs in the
booth.
Haven't seen Joey yet, but Tony Monaco was there
yesterday when I walked by.
I did hear that they are not allowed to play the
organs through Leslies - only through headphones. This
seems rather bizarre - almost like driving a car
without a steering wheel. (I'm sure you all can come
up with better analogies.) But one comment I heard was
that they weren't allowing players to play with any
real volume. I guess the rumor was true a few weeks
ago. I can't believe that HS would even come to the
show under these conditions as they won't be able to
effectively show their products.
I don't have the time to go there to test the XK-1,
but I have a friend who is going to, and I will share
his findings later. I'll ask him to ck out the extra
sounds on the XK-1 also.
Nord has moved their booth to a location that is
fairly close to the HS booth. Hmmm. Haven't had a
chance to visit Korg or Roland yet, but I will by
Sunday.
The show is busy and going well.
