Thanks for the pointer to these interviews. Manzarek was one of my idols in
the 60's. Having seen the clips and read his book, he appears quite
approachable, if a bit into himself. I haven't thought of the Doors'
musical direction as evolving in the direction of Jazz before Morrison's
death, In 1970 or so I would have been offended as it would have seemed like
a sell out. I was always puzzled about how "Riders On The Storm" fit into
Manzarek's prior work. Unfortunately, we never had the opportunity to see
how Morrison would have brought his dark side to Jazz melodies. I suspect
it would have made an impact onthe genre's development.

As an aside, I see again that I had the notes right but the fingering all
wrong on "Light My Fire".
