I have been happy with a FV-5 as well. It fits nicely in the front
pocket of my Nord Electro gig bag, and also worked fine with my VK-8m
despite the dire warnings to only use the FV-7! I also have a larger
metal BOSS FV200 type thingie when I have the room.

(I'd take a FC-7 for $24, though ;-)
