Hey Ed,
What are your BBE Sonic Maximizer settings for keys you play through
your BBE 882? I found one on eBay not long ago to update my old 264R
and for the first time tried it with my Electro last night. I didn't
really notice the BBE effect kicking in until I got to 7 or 8 on the Lo
Contour and Process controls - then it was the BBE "magic" for sure. It
seems to need a strong signal to work its best. I had switched from the
standard Electro outputs to the headphone outs to feed it the most
signal I could without a mixer. I give the headphone output a rest when
I'm playing with amps that the standard outputs are enough. Any tips
would be appreciated. I noticed on BBE's website they've made some
changes, so it takes a couple of tries to get to the Sonic Maximizers.
And the 882 has "recently been discontinued" in favor of the 882i even
though, as you say, the internal works are the same. My 264R is old
enough, probably about 5-6 years, it's not even listed for manuals
anymore. For some pianos especially, it still sounds great. TIA ~ Walter
