there is a scientific term for what a musician thinks he/she will hear
from playing a set of certain keys but i can't remember the term right
now. anyway it has to do with for example a sax player expecting to
hear a sound bec he/she presses the valve keys on a sax. if the keys
were changed to something else the sax player would not be able to
justify the sound heard with the other keys used. i understand the
thinking that as long as the sound comes out of an organ clone, the
keys should be of little consequence once one gets used to the board as
i've had to make do with that myself with my 8M and kawai controller.
but there is a pychological connection between real hammond keys and
its hammond sound, clone or not. so far we clone players have had
little choice in the matter. perhaps this will change soon.
