Subject:Re: VK-8M settings are for budget concious ?
Hey funkyhammond,
A VK-8M plus real rotary sound is music for my ears,
more if having a decent MIDIfied keyboard (better if
with weighed keys) and most important: being on a
tight budget !
Surely it will carry lower costs even if not getting
"free shipping" of most online deals !
Are you "tuning" the VK-8M as Sounside does ?
The VK-8M in actually in my wish list , so please
would you let us know if you'll share your settings or
your policy to use it
(if available to public)
Seems that I'll be in the VK corral soon :) but with
real rotary sound !
It's not my intention to begin a flame, but comparing
"leslie" emulation ( unless "on stage" ) would be the
same as to say that sampled drum loops, are as good as
to hear real vibrations of cymbals and drum beats.
I talk about everything heard on stage (not at any
stadium) when going mainly thru a speaker could be a
must.

Subject: VK-8M with real Leslie
I just picked up a used VK-8M and started using
MIDI-OX on my PC toplay with the sysex messages.
So I figured out how to bypass the rotor but I noticed
the effect was very subtle.
It didn't sound hardly anydifferent than the rotary on
brake.
My Nord Electro is much brighter when the rotor is
bypassed. Is anyone using the VK-8M with the rotary
sim off and a real Leslie?
Does the sound seem still too coloured or does it
sound right? I guess I can always adjust the EQ if it
sounds
too dark with a real Leslie.
