Hi group,

Glad to hear again about Farfisa.

I bought my first ones in late 60's, before the
popularity of Pink Floyd carried for them ( had
Compact Duo and Fast 5 both).

Let me say that I enjoy those sounds with my very
basic B3 Clone
VOCE microB-II, featuring also a Vox Continental.

I can say that that VOCE preset of the micro-B-II old
model is almost the "real thing" (Farfisa...he).

Guess that polyphony (as in V3, V5, and any newer
circuitry ) wouldn't be of great usefulness to imitate
those "creepy" combo sounds. BTW, worse yet if
compared with the fat and sweetness of a Hammond B3,
C3, L-100, etc. or any of their clone relatives.

Seems that it's a trend to add samples of Farfisa and
Vox Continental (btw or an Indian harmonium) to any
clone out there !

What a paradox !! I hated that sounds when I had a new
Farfisa and the only add-on was a sorta Leslie 125 in
a Farfisa wood cabinet (btw nicely decorated with
greyed-blue TOLEX, a revolution for those times used
to play with wood finished Leslies)

Assumed that it was imported from the US , as was
labeled in the back as "Original made by Electromusic-
Pasadena, CA"

With other hobbysts got a "variable speed " box for
that thing to get a dual speed cabinet (sorta 145
thing ), same stuff as in Europe (220/240 Volts, 50
Cycles)

I remember an italian band known as "Gli Scooters"
(circa 1972) with also an italian Leslie (a tube
powered monster ) featuring the make "Lombardi
Amplificazione" (guess that it can be still in
business ) btw brand of choice of Brian Auger !

Guess that it anticipated the size and look (Tolex
cover as Farfisa "leslies") as it occured with the 860
model (btw mid 70's ) except that 800 series had solid
state amps.

Those times I felt strong wishes to get matches to
burn my Farfisa organ (not the OEM Leslie) !!!! he.

Not so bad if compared with Jimi Hendrix true almost
maniac "on stage" burnings.

:)

It's ancient history, isn't it ?

Rafael
