I've never heard the VK-7. I own the module version of the VK-8 (the
VK-8M). I'm very happy with the sound on the VK-8/8M. The tone and
leslie simulator is most realistic of all the clones, IMO. It's really
a shame that Roland's latest organ units are so underrated. I've heard
all the clones and I think the VK-8/8M is on top, with the nord
Electro 2 being right under it. The thing I like about the Roland over
the NE2 is, you can customize the leslie settings to "age" the sound.
And the biggest advantage on the Roland is real drawbars. Digital LED
drawbars don't really bother me so much, but some how you miss out on
the realism. Plus on the nord, what you hear is what you get. There is
no way to edit any parameters.

I realize I was comparing the Roland and nord, but if you're searching
for which clone will serve you best. I have to add my 2 cents by
saying, go with the VK-8. I've had mine for 9 months now and it's
still worth every penny I paid for it.
