Subject:Receptor Piano

Well well well!!!!! I FINALLY have gotten Akoustik Piano on my Receptor and working. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to Ted at Muse Research for all the time he spent with me on the phone....although I know suspect he's using Caller ID to screen me out! Without him, I couldn't have gotten this working, I firmly believe it.

Initial response: the pianos are a wee bright, but the detail in the sound is amazing. I have 200Gb hard drive and 2gb of RAM, and I actually think this might run smoother with 4Gb of RAM. It does work, and for most band gigging situations, I think it's plenty. But depending on the sound dialed up, and what you're playing, you can get the CPU to clip a bit. I've been experimenting and I think I've got a workable solution but before I post more about that, I'm going to subject the guys in Hello Dave to a gig of this stuff on Tuesday at their "Drunken Tuesday/Unplugged" show. It'll give me a good opportunity to really hear how it reacts live. I really like the Bosendorfer ExtraBass a lot (but have to transpose up an octave), and the room settings on the program are very nice..at first glance anyway. I suspect disabling those and going to a small plugin might help, but gotta work more on that.

I wish there was more eq flexibility (instead of just mids).

ALMOST worth all of the frustration of the last 8 weeks. ;-)

Gonna try and work out my drawbar issue on Receptor #2 tonite if I have enough time, otherwise I'll be taking the XK3/RT20 to the gig Tuesday.

Yes I changed controllers! I sold the M-Audio Keyststation 88 and got a CME
UF7, plugged it in and it works great. My B4 program expired though, and am
waiting for Receptor to work with B4 ll and I will upgrade my old copy of
B4 and install it. I miss it!! B4 ll should be worth the wait though.
