Subject:VR-760 questions/Speakeasy

Got a new V-Combo the other day and didn't have time to practice with
it...just took it to the gig. Every time I hit a new patch the volume
was WAY hot and it scared the gageebees out of me and the band. Am I
always gona have to remember to fiddle with the volume control before
I can hit a key or is there some remedy to this?
Also, do you who use the SE pre-amp straight to their keyboard use a
dual 1/4" adapter (for your left and right output signal) to the
single input on the SE? I've always went from my left mono output to
the SE out to my Carvin KB1010. Then I connect the right output of
the keyboard to the 1010 and just adjust the volume so it sounded
somewhat even. Is that the proper way to do it or would I be better
served another way? Thanks for all the input here...I enjoy reading
most of the posts.
