No, I think Tony was right. While I personally wouldn't be bothered by profanity, there are other points to consider:
- This is a "kinder, gentler" list than many, and being so may entice members who wouldn't care for the other side of things. And widespread use of profanity has a tendency to open a list up for other "hard-edged" behavior: insults, crude jokes, flames, etc. Some people can just roll with this kind of stuff, but not everyone chooses to.
- There are about 1600 list members. When you get to that size, certain extra measures must be taken to keep things civil. While you might know that a certain member is exaggerating or joking, it isn't always obvious to those who don't know the person that well. A good analogy is that while you might joke about a car bomb driving along with 2-3 friends, you can't do the same on a crowded bus.
