Subject:Split function on VK8m???
I FINALLY got to demo a VK8m !!!.... there are none around where I live (
near Portland Oregon ) and since I was in L.A. last week I got to check one out.
By the way, I did discover that if you use a VK7 as a controller, you can
bypass the leslie sim simply by pressing the bypass switch on a VK7 controller.
One problem solved.
But , for the life of me .... I could not find a way to split the keyboard
for my usual 2 octave bass/3 octave upper manual setting. Am I missing
something??? Neither the person at the shop or I could find mention of it in the
manual.
We even called tech support at Roland. They were clueless...as usual.
My high opinion of the sound of this module ( my first listen on leslie sim
bypass!!! ) still stands. It was great to hear the 3 different chorus vibrato
vintages in the bypass mode. As far as I am concerned.... I have never demoed
a clone that does chorus vib this well. The overdrive was nice too.
I still haven't bit the hook and put down money for one.... much to the
frustration of the shop that I demoed it at. Unless it has split function I will
probably still hold out. My curiosity for this thing has lasted years, but
it is a hard unit to sort out and they are not that easy to find in shops on
the west coast , apparently.
