Subject:Chuck Leavell and the Stones

Hi All,

I was thinking about the Stones performance, and all of the comments here on the list.

Chuck Leavell is clearly a consummate keyboard player, and with a track record of contributions to the music world. And on the one hand, he plays with the ROLLING STONES, the arguably "greatest rock-and-roll band of all time." To sold out shows, every time.

On the other hand, he plays with the ROLLING STONES, who got where they are on the back of the electric guitar. In 90% of the songs, it doesn't matter *where* he is in the mix. In another 5%, it barely does. Clearly, nothing keyboard-heavy is going to show up in a ten-minute barn-burner set like the Superbowl set, and even a 30-minute set is going to be light on keys. Maybe, "You Can't Always Get What You Want"; I can't think of anything else guaranteed to make the list. Maybe it would have been different with Brian Jones still in the mix?

It's got to be the best and worst gig in the world ...

Regards,

-BW
