Subject:Re: BB Organ Amp / Can we all relax a little? (original Poster)

I'm the Tony that originally posted the BB organ amp. .

I'm an average semi-pro player with a 145 and Stock Amp and a Speakeasy Classic Pre. to play with my Hammond XK-3. I have a 1967 B3 at home and a 122RV and a new Korg CX-3 for smaller gigs, also a V-Combo just for kicks. That's just my organ oriented gear! I'm a keyboardist (I play alot of piano), not an organist, but I'm 52 years old and have been messing with Hammonds and Leslies since I was 15 as a player mostly not as a tech. I just want a good sound! I like to think I have a knack for gear as we all do! It's mostly driven by brains, ego and low self esteem not necessarily in that order at any one given moment!

I just happened to remember BB organ at a moment I had nothing to do at work (computer with a dedicated T1 line for internet browsing) and just threw it out to the forum as an option to the original post about someone needing help with a more high poweded Leslie option. I'm not even remotely interested in upgrading any of my gear at the moment, not even my kitchen blender...........!

The BB amp just looked really really cool and I had a momentary dream about mixing it with the Spekeasy Roadbox just off the top of my head because I know how popular the Spekeasy stuff is. I did that honestly just to patronize the members of the Forum and make everybody feel comfortable and look what has happened. The BB leslie tweed road box honestly looked really cool to me also. Also, I get a perverse thrill out of mixing and matching gear for the sheer fact of being different in my attempt to find a sense of originality in this cold cold world of the best boutique/cookiecutter here in year of our lord in America 2007..... it's not just a peverse curious impulse come to think of it. . . .I like to think it's akin almost to "Natural Selection" in some weird way (but not Social Darwinism or Social Leslieism for that matter).

I know we all don't want to waste $$ but hey! The BB amp to be fair may not overdrive like a vintage 122/147 6550 tube amp. Then again it really may be fine. We won't know until we try one.

What are you guys doing...........who really knows until then.... and then, if you like IT, FN buy IT, if you don't, don't, take a chance either way and get it and beat it up and play the sh%t out of it or forget it and get something else! OR save your money for more porno dvd's. ARE WE NOT MEN!

Where this thread has turned into is starting remind me of all those old warnings about Hamtech's forum and how crazy the Hammond/Leslie player and tech community are and those flamming sessions that went on for months about Buddy Rich of all FN people!
Pure piano players seem alot more genteel, at least the ones on Keyboard Mag and the Piano Forum. . . . .

I'm not even remotely familiar with Speakeasy's high powered options.

Personally, I think we should all play lower and hit the guitar players over the head with their putrid guitars. Happy-Up everybody! It could be 1972 and all we would have extra to think about is weather we should buy a Kari-Roller or let the band move the organ into the U-Haul and hate us.

Ok, my John Belushi, Animal House rap is over!

I'm going to go watch the March of the Wooden Soldiers now!

Happy New Year (I Think)!
Tony
