All I have is a Roadbox 3 with the preamp and amp built in, but if you make to Chicago, that offer stands here as well. Use my clone, use your clone, whatever you like.

Depending on where you guys are located you may be able to "test drive" some speakeasy gear by hooking up with one of us group members who have their products.
I own a studio platinum stereo preamp and a RoadBox II leslie. I love them both, but have not gigged with them for about 9-10 months now. I'm in two bands and both my rigs are as light weight and scaled down as I can get them, as that's whay I am not using the speakeasy gear at this time. If either of you guys are close to the metro Detroit area you are welcomed to stop by and check em' out for yourself and make your own opinion about speakeasy products.

I'm a newbie here and therefore haven't posted much. I have been researching gear, reading postings on multiple forums and have called various companies asking questions. I don't have access to play any of this gear where I live and I'm therefore buying based on what I have read etc.

I would be curious to know if Tony and others who constantly plug the speakeasy stuff actually paid for their gear or if they are endorsed and receive it for minimal to no cost. This would greatly help me in making my first major purchase.

Speakeasy products have been mentioned a great deal, they either must make one hell of a product or have one hell of a "street team". I spoke with Steve H. on a few occassions and he has taken a lot of time to explain his products' benefits and stands by them from what I can tell. Regardless, sound is subjective and I agree with Steve B. that the Speakeasy users tend to glorify the product - or at least it comes across like that. This is all coming from a guy who maintains a neutral position and doesn't yet own a clone or leslie and is looking for valid feedback from good players.

The info you guys post on this forum for the most part is helpful but lately I must agree with some who feel that lately the Speakeasy owners are playing the "well, mine is better" game (if that makes sense) and it is turning me off from speakeasy stuff. I just wish I could play this stuff and let the sound do the talking.

Sorry for the rant. Just wanted to give my unbiased opinion and say thanks for the objective and informative posts. Of course sound is subjective and we all love our gear and will therefore plug it as any loyal user should. But be aware that what you post does affect future consumers such as myself and you can do a disservice to the companies that you are loyal to by speaking ill of other products without valid and objective reason.

Happy playing all.

Speakeasy makes some good products which are well-endorsed by guys on this
list. Understood. One of these days, I might even buy something from them.

But why do you guys have to continuously 'one up' every new poster that
points out other gear on this list by bringing up Speakeasy again?

Bill Brown has been playing and working on B-3's for as long as Steve H.
has, and I'm sure his product is excellent. Tubes, solid state.... I don't
give a care..... as long as it sounds good. Have you ever heard this
product? Then, forget about it. Stop already.

This list is turning into a Speakeasy worship list. I think it's time I went
away for a while.

Because it's a tube pre with solid state power. Might be okay, but on the
other hand, the Roadbox has a 65watt tube amp. If you need more, Speakeasy
has a MONSTROUS roadbox capable of something like 300 or 600 watts....loud
enough to hurt Alvin Lee!!!!!

Why not try one of these with a Speakeasy Road Box with High Powered
Speakers:
