The question you ask is a good one, but unfortunately,
the answer to it will be highly subjective. Opinions
will abound as to the "best" clone. A little over a
year ago, I asked a similar question comparing the
clones and it caused quite a bit of debate and
opinions. I eventually wound up using the Korg CX-3
by itself with a mono output and I am very happy with
it. I cannot wait for the day our sound system goes
stereo.

Ultimately, you will need to try out an organ to see
if it does what you want it to do and to see if you
generally like it. The "try before you buy" motto is
a good one. Before that time, you will need to decide
how you intend to use it, how much you are willing to
spend, if you intend to use it with external rotating
speakers, if you will gig with it, and if so how much
weight you are willing to tote around.

As far as the drawbars go, they all pretty much do
what they need to do. You might compare the positions
of the drawbars on one clone vs. another. My opinion
is that I like them on top where I can see them and
grab them easily when I need to.

I think a general consensus here will be that the best
organ sound will come from using a clean
(non-simulated Leslie) output into some kind of
rotational speaker system. If you decide to go that
way, it will lead to more questions of which "Leslie"
is the best.

There are a few in this group who either own more than
one clone, or have owned different clones and can make
some good comparisons for you. The same is true for
rotating speakers.

The first thing I would do (which I did not do my
first time around) is to ask for help in how to go
about deciding, not necessarily asking at first which
clone to get, or which is best.

Let the opinions begin!

Lou
