I reported 6 or 7 scam XK-3 auctions to eBay a few months ago. They
were all supposedly listed from Italy and IIRC once from another
country. They all had a contact the seller for special price comment.
The picture was the same in all of them and I found the same picture
used in a legit auction a month or two before. They all disappeared
within a couple of hours of my reporting them.

I always use the "ships to US only" comment and PayPal only for
payment. I have e-mailed foreign bidders and asked them to cancel
their bid (and they did). Recently I listed an old Tube Works preamp
and a guy from Canada sent me a message asking if when I said ships
to US only I meant I would not ship to Canada. I said yes because I
just didn't want to deal with the aggravation. He said he was a good
eBayer and never caused anyone aggravation, all I had to do was not
use UPS because they added some fee at his end. He said I should use
the US postal service. I started to waffle, and looked into the cost
as well as accepting a foreign bid. I came up with an estimate
because I wasn't going to box it up and take it to the post office to
get a quote. He quibbled over that because he estimated it weighed
less than I did. I told him that was what I would charge to ship it
and he said OK (I think there was about a $10 difference in our
estimates). It was now about a day before the auction ended and he
let me know that if he won, he wouldn't be able to pay for a week or
so because he was waiting for payment for something he sold. I wrote
back that this was what I meant by aggravation and I would stick with
my US only policy.
