Subject:Re: Roland MKS-20 vs RD300s
Wow...I never knew #3 was supposed to be the CP. That's the sound I used for everything, and it cut like a knife through butter. LOTS of girth. Still a great module. And still used by Gregg Allman.

The Piano 1 and Piano 2 of the MKS-20 / RD-1000 were not as detailed and
authentic as current sampled pianos. You needed a graphic EQ on them to
balance them out. The Piano 3 was an attempt at the CP-70 sound, but was
better in every way. Less compressed, with more in tune harmonics, THIS was
the piano you used when you wanted to cut through. It became a famous sound
in its own right.
The main thing about that technology was its absolutely seamless dynamics.
There were NO sample switching points at all, and the sounds just felt alive
under your hands.
