Subject:Re: Sort of OT: Electrical hum
Today I turned off and unplugged everything. First I started with a
Speakeasy preamp (Yes Dan, I am using this for a Leslie, but I also
tested without the Leslie too and still has the same hum), the hum was
still there even with everything else unplugged. So I unplugged the
preamp, and tried the Roland piano by itself. Again, same results as
before. I did make a very profound discovery though regarding the
keyboard. Not only did I find out the keyboard was not the actual cause
of the hum (it's coming from the Alesis NanoVerb I use with it) but when
I'd move the cables around, the volume of the hum would decrease and
actually would disappear completely. When I would lift the audio cable
off the floor completely, the hum would disappear. There were some
positions when it was on the ground that the hum was not present. As for
the Speakeasy preamp, that's still a mystery. I know for sure the hum
isn't coming from the keyboard as I've unplugged the audio cable with
the preamp on.
Does this light any light bulbs for anyone?
