Subject:Covering Logos - Casio, Yamaha & Roland
I have never been a fan of product placement and large logos. I use a
Yamaha P-120 and work at least two times a week. The back of the
piano has a 3" - 4" Yamaha logo and Yamaha spelled out. I had a
sticker made at a sign shop with my name on it for $10.00 and put it
over both the logo and Yamaha name. I have received compliments on it
and the occasional ego remark with my name on the back. I didn't even
think about ego when I had the sticker made, I thought about drummers
who did the same thing on their bass drum. When I explain my purpose
with the sticker I get a laugh and understanding from those who think
it is an ego thing. I'm keeping the Fender logo on the headstck of my
guitar though.
I have owned a Yamaha P-80, P-90 and P-120 and loved them all. The
big advantage of the P-120, to me, are the built in speakers which
make it perfect for hotel rooms and home practice. The pianos voices
are great and the action is perfect to my style of play. I have also
owned Roland stage pianos and I loved the stretch tuning feature for
solo gigs. If only we could mix the best of all keyboards we would
have it made.
I'm not good with model numbers of boards unless I own it for a long
time. One of Orlando's top piano players loves the Casio he bought
and replaced his Roland with it and loves the Casio for its weight
and ease of setup. He, other players and myself think the Casio does
have very good pianos and a better B3 than Yamaha. He has kept the
Casio logo showing on his.
