Subject:Re: Piano sound????
I have the P90 and a Roland FP8 (oldy but goody) too. They aren't
what I'm talking about when I say "fat Steinway"...they have an
array of voices to choose from. Anyway, I use the P90 for dominant
piano songs (Billy, Elton, Marc Cohn, Jackson Browne, etc). I use
the Motif for hard rock, messy, full mixes with guitar prima donnas
stepping all over the sound spectrum, and even use it on classic
honky tonk piano songs. If you only play right hand, it wouldn't be
much of an issue. But I can't help but play the full piano
(including left hand heavy bass) when I'm playing piano. You just
can't do that when you're playing a "fat Steinway" sound. You can
when playing the Motif...though the bassist still won't like
it...cuts way better than a grand, and the P90.
If you've ever seen a professional country or rock band that has an
actual grand piano on stage, they only use it for their Marc Cohn-
esque type songs. On other songs, the keyboardist is probably on,
guess what, the Motif ES.
