I remember reading a Jon Lord interview where he said that he preferred no
Leslies because Leslies can hide mistakes… So when asked how he hides
mistakes, he said that he just plays the bad note twice, maybe three times
until it sounds good… That way the audience thinks he meant to play that
note all along…



In the Machine Head DVD he discusses the move to Marshals to replicate a
guitar sound for comping.



Well, he started playing with Leslies again in the 90’s…

Hi

I was a huge Jon Lord fan and when the new Leslieless sound of Fireball
and Machine head came out - I was horrified - I was never able to
listen to him again. It was shortly before this that one of our
over-medicated roadies had left the bag with my Leslie cables at home
and I had to play my B-3 through a spare 100 watt Marshall and 4/12"
cab. The ugliest sound imaginable and the longest gig of my life!! But
thats just me - I likes my Hammonds spun!!
