Subject:Re: Touring organs: symphonic rock ancestor ?
I went to this show in Chicago at the Auditorium Theater in the early
70's. It was fantastic, and an amazing lightshow. There is a record
album of the tour - for sure available on vinyl, don't know if it
ever made it to CD. I think the ticket price was $4. We bought
tickets at the door after the show had already started. We found out
about it at the last minute by seeing a poster, and ran down there to
see the show - well worth it, and quite the spectacle. Virgil Fox
definitely "got" the power of the organ as it was starting to be used
by ELP, Argent and others. I saw Argent in England in 1969 or 70 on a
trip with my parents as a teenager. I made them let me go. Another
fantastic show, they were great, and what a sound.
