Subject:Re: Back/shoulder/hand pain
I really have to police myself to keep from slouching at the keyboard;
I'm constantly correcting myself and trying to sit up straighter, it's
hard to correct years of slouching in my youth! I also have the driver
seat angle in my truck all the way up, kind of severe for a lot of
people, but I want my back straight and supported.
And, I lift weights 3 times a week. Free weights at home, keep it
simple and cheap, right now there's 26 lbs. on each dumbbell and 60 on
my barbell. Don't do any curls in the overhand (playing) position! At
least not at my age (49). That will really screw up your forearm
tendons! Doing the weights helps keep me fit and balanced, and I can
grab my gear without hurting myself.
This works for me, plus the aforementioned details-hand position,
seat/keyboard height, arms parallell to the floor, etc.
And of course, see a doctor!
Good luck to us all!
