If most of us are playing instruments that are
amplified, loud comes from how much the amplifier is
cranked up. But, I too find myself pounding harder on
the keys to try and get more volume out of it. But
there is a point of diminishing returns. On older
accoustic pianos, you might have been able to eek out
just a little bit more by pounding harder, but with
the newer electronic units, I don't think that is the
case. After some point, you're just beating up your
hands and the keys - crank the amp instead.
