This is a big issue for myself .... I just had an epidural on my neck last
week. I have 3 herniated disc in my neck (cervical). There are 2 primary
reasons ... the first is the 450lb hammond I moved until 3 years ago and the
other is my posture while playing piano. The weight of the keys isnt what is
hurting your hands .... your hands hurt because nerves are inflamed at the
point of your neck. Leaning slightly foward with your head tilted down and
your arms extended is going to hurt your back after a while. My recent
solution was to get a drummers seat with a back. This help me to learn how
to sit more upright and relax my shoulders. Hope that helps.
