Subject:Re: Tony - XM-2 + mini Leslie or B4 II + keyboard amp?

It would depend on the application Joe. If I'm doing "real" Hammond playing, and it's a core instrument and I'm doing lots of on the fly tweaking, the XK3/minileslie for sure. For Hello Dave, that is/will be my rig (with a Motif8 for pianos). For Pink Freud, it's definitely b4. The difference is ergonomics and sound. Both are great, but B4 seems to be a little less aggressive and not as quick tweak-wise (and that's probably just me, and the extra layer of interface), whereas I definitely play differently on the Xk3 (probably because of its interface). The same answer would apply when comparing the Electro with the XK3, I would choose the XK3/mini leslie over the Electro/mini leslie.

The XK3 has a much ballsier and aggressive sound, and yet can sound incredibly mellow too....just a more versatile organ than the Electro (which I still use and love).

Tony,

Just comparing the sound of your XK-3 + Mini Leslie and your B4 II + Yorkville, which would
you pick if you could only have one? This is assuming the XM-2 since it's rack size makes it
easier to fit into an existing rig.

I AB'd an XK-3 and Electro at GC several months ago and liked the XK-3 better. It wasn't
enough difference to make me completely change my rig though. I use an Electro rack and I
want to keep using my A70 as a controller since it controls several modules. But now that the
XM-2 is in the mix I may rethink it!

Thanks,
Joe
