Subject:Korg CX-3 (V2) and Speakeasy Clone Pedal Pre Amp impressions

Ok, to all the Clonewheelers with a Korg CX-3 and asking how it
sounds with the Speakeasy Pre Amp:

1) The sound changed dramatically, for the better.(big difference)

I made some tests with
a)Internal overdrive (sounds kinda funny)

b)Motion Sound KT-80 tube channel (better than the sim, but not
still there)

c) Speakeasy: Frying eggs? sound is there :)

The percussion is like there's a new percussion algorithm.
It sounds vivid and has a lot of presence.

The Leslie sim, full throtle sounds terrific, more powerful than
ever.

2)There's a lot of controls to fiddle with.

I turned off the overdrive on my fav patches, and,at the very
beginning, It's kinda difficult to dial in the sound to taste.

Balancing the Korg parameters (amp and eq, plus the board vol,
overdrive,treble and bass) and the Speakeasy parameters is a tricky
thing as well.

I was listening to "Fried Neck Bones", Santana Live at Woodstock,
and was able to get the exact same sound.

3)The build of the pedal is pretty basic, It could be
improved "design" and "looks" wise but, at the end, what's its
important is what is inside, the core.

And, If anybody of you asks If these pedals ar made to order, the
moment I unwrapped the box, I was still able to smell the paint of
something just made.(as in the old days, actually, I liked it ;)

The buttons (volume, gain,etc.) are flimsy and kinda lose, as well
as the power cord, it doesn't attach very firm and I have to push it
against the female of the Speakeasy or tape it.(no big deal)

3) I ordered the Barker circuit, to boost the gain on the CX-3 and,
to MY taste, it is not necessary.

4)At the very beginning I wasn't THAT satisfied with the sound I was
getting but, once I took the mixer (Behringer) OUT of the chain, and
plugged directly to the amplified speakers, the sound improved in a
great manner.

I hope this was useful to all of you willing to add a preamp to your
clone.
