One more thing to add about the Roland VK series. Both the 7 and 8 have an 11-pin leslie connector on the back making it a bit easier to connect to a real Leslie (with the help of an adaptor kit for older Leslies).

Although my brethren here may differ, I really liked the Leslie sim on the VK-7 especially when it was connected to a Speakeasy tube-preamp. Right now, VK-7's can be picked up for less than $1,000. I sold mine with a case on ebay last year for $1,200, but they're even much cheaper now.
