Subject:Re: Volume/Expression Pedal

Hi All,

The dynamic (actually, equal-loudness) control of an expression pedal doesn't have much to do with the pedal used in a MIDI organ. (There are exceptions to this -- don't jump at me yet!)

I know that both the Voce V3 and the Korg CX3/BX3 support the same kind of "expression" that a B-3 does, where the lows remain relatively high in volume even when the pedal is pulled all the way back. (Getting it right takes a little playing around with the settings.) I don't know for sure, but I'll bet that the VK8 and Electro might do this, too. The V5 does not; it only supports volume.

The bigger question is: Does the XK-3 support this ONLY when the EXP-100 is connected (through the "Exp Pedal 2" jack), or does it also support equal-loudness expression when another pedal is connected to the "Exp Pedal 1" jack? I don't know the answer to this, but someone who owns both an EXP-100 and a Yamaha FC7 or Roland expression pedal could find this out. There are settings on Pg. 60 of the manual that adjust for different kinds of pedals; I believe that the FC7 can use the "KORG XVP-10" setting.

Regards,

-BW

If I understand it and/or explain it correctly the Hammond exp. pedal for the Xk-3 and other Hammond built clones approaches this by providing adjustable levels of varying the volume of the bass and treble in addittion to pure volume change.
