Subject:Roland Revo 120

Here's something you don't find every day.

I picked up an old Roland Revo 120 for about $200 to use with my BX-3
in my casual band setting. Mid '70s I think.

I can't justify the cost of a real Leslie - I was using a Digitech
RPM1 through the PA, and also tried it through another amp, but
wasn't real happy with it.
Then I turned up this Roland.

For those of you that have never seen one, it is an oddity. 100 watt
solid state with spring reverb, a 12" bass speaker pointing down to
the floor, 3 6"(I think) mid speakers on the top, one pointed straight
ahead, the other 2 on either side of center pointed at about 45
degrees shooting through grills. Roland fakes the rotating sound
through these 6" speakers.

The footswitch has off, slow, chorus, vibrato. I don't care for the
vibrato setting, but do like the slow and chorus settings. Big bonus
on the footswitch is that it has a separate 'direct' input that I can
run my electric piano through with no 'revo' sound.

No moving parts so you don't get the real doppler of a real Leslie,
but I think it's a reasonable simulator for very little money.
