Subject:Re: Muddy Nord

Hi Dan,
As one who switched from a CX-3 to an Electro, I definitely agree that the Electro sounds somewhat muffled compared to other Clones,
and it's all in the Leslie sim (it's plenty bright with the sim off, but it sounds like crap). Something about it's speaker cabinet
emulation that muffles the sound a bit, but it can be corrected somewhat with EQ. I admit that I didn't care for it at first, but
for some reason everyone else who heard the Electro liked it better because it wasn't "as harsh", and I have to admit that it's
really grown on me. The Electro actually seems to sit in the mix a little better than the CX-3 did, and I think that's why. Also,
recordings I've made with the Electro sound better than my CX-3 did, and I think it's for the same reason. I've learned that with
the Electro I can crank up my solos a notch more than before and I get more 'presence' without taking everyone's head off. I know
it all seems a little odd, but that's just my take on it now that I've been gigging with the Electro for over a year. I know that I
get more compliments on my Clonewheel/Leslie sim sound using my Electro than I ever did when I had my CX-3, and I used a Speakeasy
with both keyboards.
Lately I've been gigging without my Speakeasy just to see how I liked the raw Electro sound, and you know it ain't too bad. And
action-wise it's a joy to play. I don't really ever see me getting a Nord Stage, but I imagine I'll hang on to my Electro for quite
a long time just because the longer I own it the more fun it becomes to play.
Hey, when's P-K gonna come my way?
